Follow the workflow

Work through the steps in order for a new chart, or use them as a review checklist for an existing animation.

    Prepare the table

    Put category or time labels in the first column and numeric series in the remaining columns. Use one header row, remove merged cells and totals, and keep units consistent.

    Import the CSV

    Open LivelyChart Studio, select a starting template, and paste or upload the data. Review the parsed rows and columns before styling the chart.

    Choose a chart for the question

    Use rankings for position over time, lines or areas for continuous trends, columns for category comparisons, and share charts for part-to-whole relationships.

    Write a conclusion-led title, shorten labels, set units, and use one accent color to direct attention. Keep secondary gridlines and annotations quiet.

    Set the animation pace

    Preview the full sequence and make sure labels can be read before they move. Slow down around crossovers, leaders, or final values that carry the story.

  6. 06

    Export for the destination

    Choose the target aspect ratio and resolution first. Export MP4 or WebM for video, GIF for lightweight looping embeds, and PNG for a sharp final frame.
